The Vern Bar Quiz

Every Thursday during term time (excluding formal nights), The Vern Bar comes alive with one of Hild Bede’s favourite weekly traditions -the Bar Quiz! Hosted by our brilliant Ents Committee, it’s completely free to enter and always packed with good vibes, friendly competition, and plenty of laughs.

Teams battle it out across a range of quirky and challenging rounds, with the winning team walking away with a £20 bar tab to celebrate their victory. But it’s not just about the scores—creativity counts too. The team with the best name, handpicked by our Social Secretary, earns the honour of choosing a round for the following week’s quiz.

Even during the isolation period of COVID-19, the quiz spirit lived on. We took the fun online, keeping the community connected through virtual quizzes, many of which are still available to watch on our YouTube channel via the link below.
