The SRC Levy

The Hild Bede SRC membership levy is currently £57 per academic year or £171 for your whole degree (regardless of whether you are doing a 3 or 4 year degree).

Details of how to pay the levy are sent out to freshers, alongside information about the college and SRC. If you have any questions, please do contact the SRC President who will be able to assist you.

We would like every student to feel able to get involved in the SRC. If finances are an issue or you wish to discuss a different payment plan, please contact the SRC President or Treasurer.

Event Booking Details

Just some of the wonderful things the levy gets you...

1) Cheaper rates to events run by the SRC!

Such as… Winter & Summer Ball, Freshers Week, College Day and more!

2) Cheaper access to our Clubs and Societies

You'll get the chance to meet the people who run these at the Team Hild Bede Freshers' Fair! You need to be an SRC member to join any of our college clubs and societies at a subsidised rate.

3) A Full-Time SRC President

They are your first point of contact for most issues and are here to make your time at college run smoothly. They ensure that the student common room is ran efficiently and that you have the best time possible at college.

4) Representation at both College and University levels

The president represents specific issues that matter to Hild Bede students to members of college management, Durham Student Organisation office and even reaches the upper echelons through the University's Executive Committee - where the big decisions are made. It is because we have a paid member of staff working for the SRC that the president has the time, resources and power to carry out effective representation.

5) SRC Equipment and Facilities

A variety of sports equipment

Thousands of pounds' worth of tech equipment

Pool tables and darts boards

Music facilities and band equipment

6) Grant money and extra support

The SRC provides different grants throughout the year to different sports teams and societies. There are also grants available for indivudals in order to make SRC activities more accessible.

7) Voting rights and the ability to run for SRC positions of responsibility

As the SRC is a political organisation, all members have the right to vote for who represents them. Yearly elections take place in Epiphany term as well as termly SRC meetings where you get the chance to hear from your officers and ask questions.

8) Student run welfare

The SRC welfare team provides a range of welfare from free sanitary products and sexual health supplies to campaigns about student housing, alcohol safety and grief.

Paying the Hild Bede SRC levy gets you a voice in college leadership, access to events (often at lower cost), comprehensive welfare support, and the opportunity to help shape student life. It’s much more than a fee—it’s your gateway to the full Hild Bede experience.
